When AI Met Game Shows: The Vibe Code Event That Broke All The Rules 🎮🤖
What happens when you give a room full of brilliant minds ten minutes each, an AI idea, and three brutally honest judges? Pure. Vibe. Magic.
As part of Leeds Digital Festival on the 25th of September 2025, No Code Lab threw open the doors to Gameshow Allstars in Leeds (yes, BEFORE it even officially opened - we're just that cool) for an evening that proved one thing: the future of AI isn't in Silicon Valley boardrooms. It's being built right here, right now, by people who dare to vibe code their wildest ideas into reality.
The Setup
Our fearless founders Zandra Moore and Georgia Halston kicked things off by setting the scene for what No Code Lab is all about - democratizing tech, breaking down barriers, and proving that you don't need a computer science degree to build the future. Then they unleashed the main event: seven presenters, ten minutes each, three judges ready to score, and a room buzzing with the kind of energy that only happens when innovation meets competition.
The Contenders
🏥 Sonia & Joe: Your Health Records, Finally Talking Sense
First up, Sonia and Joe tackled one of healthcare's biggest headaches - scattered NHS records that make finding your medical history feel like an archaeological dig. Their solution? An app that brings everything into one place and lets you chat with an AI about your symptoms. No more "when was my last vaccination?" panic at 2am. Game-changing stuff.
🍽️ Charlie Bartle: The Meal Planner That Actually Learns
Charlie showed us her Lovable-built app that's solving dinner time drama everywhere. But here's the genius bit - her family gives feedback on meals, training the LLM to understand their tastes and create shopping lists that actually match what they'll eat. It's like having a personal chef who gets smarter every single day.
🧠 Mark Walsh - Kwizzbit: Quiz Generation at Lightning Speed
Mark from Kwizzbit absolutely BROUGHT IT. He demonstrated how his AI-powered platform can create a comprehensive quiz on literally ANY topic in under a minute. Then, in peak showmanship form, he quizzed the entire room on what his presentation was about. Meta? Brilliant? Both. The judges agreed - Mark walked away with the top score and the overall win!
💼 Matt Visser - Servita: The Ultimate Vibe Coder
Matt gave us a masterclass in "AI for absolutely everything." From automating the soul-crushing task of creating staff CVs for public sector tenders to digesting massive documents and pulling out the exact insights needed for client conversations - this guy vibe codes his entire life. If there's a tedious task, Matt's already built an AI solution for it.
🍸 Lawrence Dudley & Jakub Szamuk: Mad Scientists of Mixology
Then things got WILD. Lawrence and Jakub rolled up in full white scientist jackets to present their AI cocktail machine. Because why just talk about AI when you can drink it? The double-team energy was unmatched, and honestly, an AI that makes cocktails might be the killer app we've all been waiting for.
🏥 Chris Bentley: NHS Triage, Reimagined
Chris showcased an NHS app that's tackling the "where do I even start?" problem of healthcare. Tell the AI what's wrong, and it helps figure out how to navigate the healthcare system to get you the right care. Because nobody should need a medical degree just to book the right appointment.
📊 Alex Craven - The Data City: Liberation from SIC Codes
Alex closed out the pitches with a whistle-stop tour of The Data City's mission - using AI to provide real-time understanding of the world's industries and freeing us all from the tyranny of outdated SIC codes. It's the kind of unglamorous-but-absolutely-essential work that makes everything else possible.
The Verdict
Our incredible judges - Jess Farrow, Richard "No Code Ninja" Eaton, and Ewan Pogson - scored each presentation out of ten, bringing the heat with honest feedback and genuine enthusiasm. After all the points were tallied, Mark Walsh from Kwizzbit emerged victorious as the night's champion!
The Vibe
But here's the thing - the presentations were just the beginning. After the pitches wrapped, we took over Gameshow Allstars for the kind of night that reminds you why building stuff with other people is the absolute best. The Gameshow Allstars team were legends, hosting us in their incredible space with games that had everyone competing, laughing, and trash-talking in equal measure.
Oh, and did we mention Alex Craven pulled double duty as our resident DJ, spinning AI-inspired tunes that kept the energy HIGH all night long? Because that's just how we roll at No Code Lab events.
The Takeaway
This is what happens when you bring together people who refuse to let "I don't know how to code" stop them from building the future. From healthcare to meal planning, from quizzes to cocktails, these builders proved that AI isn't some distant, scary thing - it's a tool that's accessible RIGHT NOW to anyone with an idea and the audacity to make it real.
Want in on the next one? Keep your eyes on No Code Lab. Because if this night proved anything, it's that the most exciting innovations aren't happening in isolation - they're happening when brilliant people get together, share ideas, compete a little, and then play gameshow games together.
The future is being vibe coded. Are you in? Let us know what you’d like to see from No Code Lab Next!
